A Quick Round-up

I almost completely forgot to mention the fact that I’ve started training in Tang Soo Do again! I’ve had a couple of sessions back already, and got the same sore legs and excessive sweating I was expecting. It’s good to be back, I was quite anxious beforehand as I knew a lot of things would have changed, but it was surprisingly easy. Ok, so I’ve forgotten pieces of my forms, but nothing like as badly as I thought might happen after nine months out.

RAR continues to grow, chew and get louder and louder. He’s learned how to blow raspberries in the last couple of weeks, and how to really splash in the bath. It looks like someone’s set off a depth charge in the bathroom when he’s had a bath. I think the first top teeth aren’t far away now if the chewing and obscene amounts of dribble are anything to go by, and he’s absolutely desperate to get moving on his own. You should see him in his walker in the kitchen now, nothing is safe anymore, particularly dogs and toes.

The Citra pale ale is fermenting away nicely, and I’ve been much, much better at not peeking and interfering with it. I plan to get it in bottles later this week. Last night I cracked open a first bottle of the Summer Lightning clone, and despite it only being three weeks old, it’s amazing! The beer in the pressure barrel isn’t as mature yet and still tastes very sweet and malty, but I’m hoping after a few weeks that will calm down. The bottles should mature nicely too, if I can resist them.

The first pint of my beer. This was after a few tastes, head retention was much better than expected.

It was a nice way to spend the last couple of hours of the weekend, relaxing on the sofa drinking a really good beer that I made. That I made from water, hops, grain and yeast. Alchemy at its finest.
