Unfortunately for anyone wanting to read something actually interesting here, they’re going to have to wait. I’ve not really done anything of note lately, and rather than list the more mundane things I’ve been up to, I’m just updating what I’m up to weights-wise at the gym. I’m still bitten by the bug and really enjoying it, and at the moment I’ve not plateaued on any exercise too badly.
So now I’m up to:
Hack squat – 330KG (so pleased to still be increasing on this, after 350KG there’s no more room left on the bar!)
Shoulder press – 32.5KG (x2)
Bench press – 90KG
Lat pulldown – 110KG
We (me and the guy I go training with who’s being really helpful and pushing me) started doing some 5×5 workouts last week, so instead of my usual (1 warm-up set on 50% weight, 1 short set of 90% working weight, then 2 full sets at maximum weight), we went for 5 sets of 5 reps at about 90% weight, with a maximum of a minute rest between sets. That 5th set on each exercise is an absolute killer, but a nice change from the norm. I was really hurting in the shoulders over the weekend after doing the 5×5 with military presses.
I’m off on holiday in a few weeks, some serious food-watching and a lot more work and I should be happy sat next to the pool for a week
