Day 15 – The Difficult Second Album

They say that bands often have trouble following a great debut album with what’s known as ‘the difficult second album’. The same is true in a not-very-related-at-all way when it comes to trying to cut some weight. The first week is generally easy, and all that excess holiday weight can drop pretty quickly, but the second week things start to settle down a bit and if you’re not expecting it, it can be quite disheartening. I’ve always found this in the past, and this time around it’s no different, but expecting it softened the blow somewhat. Overall though I’m still 11 lbs down compared to where I was on the 3rd of January, and that’s a good thing whatever way you look at it. Slow and steady is the key now, keep chipping away at it. May is still a long way off, there’s plenty of time to do it right.

Getting back into training and back into the gym has been difficult, but it’s getting better. My first session back in the gym was killer, my usual 1K warmup on the rower left me gasping and I couldn’t push anything like the weight I could a month before. I’m getting there now though, the 1K row is now 1.5K to get warm, and I’m not pushing my lungs back in after. I’m back to a full stack on the chest press machine (110KG) so I’ll be back on the bench with dumbbells and the barbell, which I’m looking forward to.

TSD is going reasonably well, I’m making some real conscious efforts at the moment to try and correct parts where I know I get lazy. That means deeper stances, not raising between techniques, and trying to get those kicks up and for once, locked-out! I’m still taking loads of Fish Oil and Glucosamine Sulphate, and while I know it’s too soon for anything long-term to even start making itself obvious, I do feel better for it.
